IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026: Registration Deadline Approaching Fast

The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) have opened the application window for the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026. This national-level entrance exam is the primary gateway for students seeking admission to the prestigious 5-Year BS-MS (Dual Degree) and 4-Year BS/B.Tech programs across various IISER campuses, as well as IISc Bangalore and IIT Madras.

With the registration deadline fast approaching, aspiring researchers and scientists must submit their applications online through the official admission portal.

Note: The application correction window will allow registered candidates to rectify specific errors in their submitted forms. However, core details like your name, nationality, and email ID generally cannot be changed once submitted.


🎓 Basic Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, applicants must ensure they meet the minimum academic requirements set by the committee:

  • Academic Qualification: Must have passed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination in the science stream in 2024, 2025, or appearing in 2026.
  • Subject Requirements: Must have studied at least three subjects among Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology during Class 12. (Note: Mathematics is mandatory for certain programs like the B.Tech and Data Science courses).
  • Minimum Marks: Candidates from the General/OBC-NCL/EWS categories must have a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Class 12. SC/ST/PwD candidates require a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

📝 How to Apply for IAT 2026

The entire registration process is conducted strictly online. Here is a step-by-step guide to successfully submitting your application:

  1. Visit the Official Portal: Go to the official IISER admissions website at iiseradmission.in.
  2. Register Your Account: Click on the registration link to create a new account using a valid email ID and mobile number. You will receive a User ID and Password.
  3. Fill Out the Form: Log in with your new credentials and carefully complete your personal, academic, and contact details. You will also need to select your preferred test cities.
  4. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of a recent passport-sized photograph, your signature, and relevant category certificates (if applicable) in the prescribed format.
  5. Pay the Application Fee: Complete the process by paying the non-refundable application fee via credit/debit card, UPI, or net banking.
    • General/EWS/OBC/OBC-NCL: ₹2,000
    • SC/ST/PwD/Kashmiri Migrants: ₹1,000
  6. Submit and Save: Review all entered information, submit the final form, and download the confirmation page for your records.
